Virginia Beach Fun Park

I love a great vintage effect with photos, reminiscent of the old family album and dad’s polaroid, so of course when I stumbled across this retro polaroid color tutorial for photoshop I had to give it a try. You can experiment with different color choices but I really liked the end result using the colors in the tutorial. I also added a vignette and some noise. Here’s the entire line up:

  • Open image>Duplicate
  • Layer>Duplicate layer – soft light @ 100%
  • Layer>New fill layer>Solid color> dark blue #070142 – exclusion @ 100%
  • Layer>New adjustment layer> Levels…adjust blacks(left arrow) to the right a little
  • Layer>New fill layer>Solid color> light orange #de9b82 – soft light @ 75% opacity
  • Layer>New fill layer>Solid color> light pink #fed1eb – soft light @ 50% opacity
  • Layer>New fill layer>Solid color> dark blue #070044 – exclusion @ 100%
  • Duplicate background layer and drag layer to the top – soft light @ 100%
  • Use background layer to create the vignette – click on background layer- select rectangular marquee tool, set feather at 150px, drag out your desired vignette frame – Select>Inverse – Layer>New Layer>Layer via copy – drag new layer to top – multiply @ 83% ( you can adjust the feather as you like or use elliptical marquee tool)
  • To add the noise – new layer>Edit>Fill>50%gray – Filter>Noise>Add noise>Gaussian(with monochrome checked) at 7.16  (I also blur the noise) Filter>Blur>Gaussian blur .03px- overlay @ 88%
